On the Day Appointments for Emergency Care

Quinns Mindarie Super Clinic operates with an appointment system.  However, we know that sometimes patients require urgent care or emergency care.

With changes to health care in Australia, we acknowledge that getting an appointment with your GP in a timely manner is becoming more and more difficult.

As such, most of our practitioners allocate several ‘on the day’ appointments in their schedules to accommodate urgent care for their regular patients. In addition, several doctors allocate a block of care later in the day, to assist with GP urgent care.

Please note, professional fees for GP urgent care appointments are private fees for all patients. The amount will depend on the nature of the urgent care required. Medicare does not provide any assistance to your GP for materials used in GP urgent care, such as suturing materials, tissue glue, anaesthetic and dressings. A procedure fee will be part of your urgent care if these are required.

Other options for GP Urgent Care exist and include:

  1. St John Urgent Care clinic in Joondalup. Contacted on 9400 7000
  2. New Government funded GP Urgent Care Clinics for eligible health conditions.

Require Emergency Assistance?

Dial 000 and ask for the ambulance.

  • Stay calm
  • Give accurate information on your location to the operator
  • Tell the operator the injured/sick persons condition. ie breathing or not, conscious, suffering chest pain, bleeding seriously etc
  • If possible, send someone outside to help the ambulance locate you.

We do not have the facilities of a hospital and substantial time can be lost by attending the surgery in an emergency.

We encourage patients to take out ambulance or private health insurance to cover themselves and their family for ambulance travel.   If you attend the surgery in an emergency situation, the doctor may request ambulance transport to the hospital.

Cost of ambulance transfer is the responsibility of the patient or their guardian.
