From the 11th October 2021, QMSC has transitioning to mixed billing for patient health care. This will affect some, but not all of our patients.
We have made this difficult decision due to the rising costs of providing quality health care. When Medicare was introduced, the government promise was that Medicare fees would be indexed to inflation. This has unfortunately not occurred and in fact, the Medicare rebate for GPs was frozen for 8 years. The Australian Medical Association sets guidelines for fees that better reflect what these fees should now be. For example, a standard GP consultation is recommended to be $84.00 but the Medicare rebate is only $39.10.
In addition, QMSC has spent the past 5 years working to become a Comprehensive Primary Care provider, giving patients the time they need to provide an exceptional quality in health care.
