We would love to be able to run our medical centre according to the appointment schedule.
Sometimes the reason for the delay is just unavoidable – an emergency that required immediate attention, a distressed patient who needed extra time, an elderly patient required extra assistance or our computers may have crashed.
However, the single biggest reason for us running behind schedule is because patients bring in lists of problems without booking sufficient time. Unless each problem is very minor and takes only seconds to resolve, this will cause the doctor to run behind.
It may seem like a good idea to get all your health issues dealt with at the same time but dealing with a list of issues will take longer than a standard appointment. When several people do this in one session, the overtime can become significant.
